OPERATIONAL RISK MANAGER
Amsterdam, The Netherlands – full time

JOB PURPOSE
The Operational Risk Manager is responsible for ensuring that (risk mitigating) controls for the operational processes within AFAM are in place and monitors/reports on their effectiveness.
The position collaborates with the Investment Risk Manager and the Compliance Manager in the Risk & Compliance team, reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance.

KEY RESULT AREAS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Risk Framework:
    – Develop, implement and maintain the (non-financial) risk framework, policies and procedures;
    – Assist in the development and regular testing of Business Continuity Planning (BCP);
    – Assist in the preparation and well-functioning of the AFAM Business Risk Committee;
  • Monitoring:
    – Advise on and monitor the implementation of
    – Manage the Incident reporting procedure and ensure timely follow-up on proposed risk-mitigating actions;
    – Maintain and enhance the set-up for monitoring investment guidelines and ensure breaches are restored;
    – Ensure timely and appropriate follow-up on findings resulting from internal audits;
  • Reporting:
    – Report the status of Non-financial risks (KRI’s), reported incidents and open actions to Business Risk Committee, AFAM MT and AFAM Board and monitor their follow- up;
    – Lead the preparation of the annual ISAE3402 (Type II) report;
    – Assist in the preparation of the annual ICAAP-report;
  • Risk culture and awareness:
    – Act as knowledge-center for the business in the area of operational risk;
    – Develop and conduct Risk Self Assessments with all business functions;
    – Enhance the organization’s risk culture by raising awareness of potential risks.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Master’s degree;
  • Post-graduate or other relevant degrees (e.g. RMFI) are preferable;
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in operational risk management or related field, preferably
  • in the asset management industry;
  • Practical experience in implementing ORM frameworks, processes, tools and
  • technology;
  • Fluent English and Dutch;
  • Solid problem analysis and judgment skills, organizational sensitivity, tact and discretion, effective networking skills.
